Philip Morris is expanding its presence in western Ukraine and investing in worker safety. The company will allocate UAH 60 million to build a new protective shelter at its factory in Lviv region. This was announced by Philip Morris Ukraine CEO Maxim Barabash.
According to him, this will complement previous investments of $30 million, part of which has already been spent on modernizing the existing shelter. The new shelter will provide comfortable and safe conditions for all employees of the enterprise.
So far, 220 employees have already moved to the Lviv factory from the Kharkiv production facility, which had to close due to the Russian invasion. A total of 250 people are planned to be employed.
The company is actively increasing its production capacity. Currently, two production lines are in operation, a third is being installed, and two more will be launched by January 2025. This will allow us to fully supply the domestic market with Ukrainian-made products.
Philip Morris has been operating in Ukraine since 1994 and has invested over $750 million in the country’s economy. In 2023, the company paid more than UAH 30 billion in taxes and allocated UAH 400 million for humanitarian aid since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
